In Heerenveen (approx. 230 employees), we develop and produce water-based polymer products and formulation additives. With a multidisciplinary team (Marketing, Technical Service, Application & Syntheses Lab, Engineering and Production), we work on market demands of the Packaging and Coatings industries.

You will have a high degree of personal responsibility as member of our highly experienced and motivated Development team and will work on various product development projects. You will benefit from our interdisciplinary global and local approach and collaboration within the business and innovation teams.
As a Product Development Technologist, you will develop new water-based polymer products mainly used in printing inks and packaging coatings. Therefore, your main focus will be on packaging, where you will face challenges related to performance, sustainability, food safety and renewable raw materials.
In the process of digitalizing our laboratory processes, you will act as digital ambassador of the team and will be driving digitalization and automation of the synthesis lab.
Your tasks include:
- You will be a member in several project teams. You will focus on short-term customer opportunities as well as long-term innovation projects.
- You will drive digitalization of existing processes and procedures in the lab, in co-operation with digital experts and your global colleagues.
- You will be exposed to a variety of end-user markets, where you will apply new or existing technologies for solving our customer’s needs.
- Generating ideas and concepts towards new project opportunities.
Locally, you will be part of the Regional Technical Center that is responsible for Product Development Support, Technical Service Support, upscaling, and production.
In this role you will report to the Development Manager Europe.
- You have obtained a MSc or BSc degree, preferably in the field of (Polymer) Chemistry, Chemical Technology or comparable, and are looking for an opportunity to build on your career.
- Interest and experience in digitalization in a lab environment, setting up experiments, using big data, driving automation and digitalization of our labs and acting as a key contact within the team for digitalization
- You have several years relevant working experience with project management and working in project teams.
- You have affinity with sustainability and are capable of translating customer application problems into a sound scientific approach for a solution.
- As you will be working in a team environment with a variety of disciplines (including Technical Service, Marketing, Application & Syntheses Lab, Engineering and Production) a high level of pro-activity paired with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent knowledge of English is required.
