Function profile

As a Process Engineer you and the fellow Process Engineers will be responsible for implementing process improvements for our plant in Maastricht. These improvements arise from safety studies, incident investigations and technical failures concerning the production installations. Apart from that, you will be responsible for the introduction of new products coming from R&D (scale-up) and from technology transfers within BASF. You will also carry out plant trials. In short, your work consists of:

  • Participating in process safety studies concerning existing and new installation components and managing all actions that result from that.
  • Investigating, developing and implementing process improvements (continuous improvement). This according to internal and external engineering and EHS standards, with the aim of increasing the profitability of the plants.
  • Supporting projects for new or existing installations, such as: concept and basic/detail engineering.
  • Contributing to the plant support and production departments when scaling-up new or improved products, supporting process innovations in the plant and carrying out root cause analysis for structural process failures. You will investigate, work out and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensuring the correct transfer of knowledge by setting up process documentation and process (safety) documentation.

In this role you will work together closely with 3 colleague Process Engineers within the Process Management department and Production and Technical Services. You will report to the Production Manager. We are looking for someone who has the ambition and capacities to lead this Process Management Group on the long term.

Function requirements
  • You have an HBO or WO (bachelor or master’s) degree in the direction of Chemical Technology (or similar).
  • You have obtained at least 3 years of work experience within Process Engineering.
  • On the long term you have the ambition to lead the Process Management Group and to develop yourself further into a leading position.
  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy working together with various disciplines.
  • Knowledge of structural optimization processes like LeanSixSigma is an advantage.
  • You are fluent in English (both spoken and written). A good level of Dutch is an advantage.
  • A fixed monthly salary + fixed 13th month + extensive bonus scheme of maximum 15% of the yearly salary.
  • A permanent contract.
